In April of 2003, Col. Philip Shue was a Psychiatrist assigned to Lackland AFB in Texas. When his old Mercury Tracer was seen careening north on I-10 until it plowed into a cluster of trees, emergency crews expected to see injuries associated with car fatalities. Instead, they saw an Air Force officer with duct tape on his wrists and ankles, nipples cut off with surgical precision, and a 6”x 1” incision gaping down his chest. An earlobe and fingertip were also missing.
Shue was dead, of course. And within weeks, the Kendall County Texas Medical Examiner concluded he committed suicide, and any hope of a criminal investigation came to a screeching halt.
If you’re shocked at the thought of a man torturing himself to death, you aren’t alone.
